Sues for strong working synergy By Mbosowo Essien/Abang Abang The Head of Department Information and Publication in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mrs. Juliana Udoh today played host to the Forum of Legislators Media Aides - FOLMA, Commending the media aides, Mrs Udoh lauded the good works of the media body while suing for more collaborative synergy towards effective media practice and information management in the 7th Assembly. She made this known while interacting with the Assembly media professionals in her office, the information boss used the opportunity to thanked the aides in their performance on the image of the assembly, describing it as a feat that has surpassed previous happenings. For Mrs. Juliana, the emergence of the forum has elevated the status of information dissemination in the assembly as it has become a dependable partner with the existing Press Corps of the assembly working for a common goal but from a different angle....

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has nominated a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obong Paul Ekpo, as Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board. This was contained in a memo sent to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and read by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey at Tuesday Plenary. Others nominated include Mr Moses Enoidem, Mr Nkorok Ambrose, Ini Friday Akpan, Member and Mr Johnny Udoh, Member. Ini Friday Akpan Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, referred the matter to the House Committee on Committee on Justice, Human Rights and Public Petitions for further legislative actions and to report back to the House within two days.

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has ratified the COVID-19 Budget Execution Report of Akwa Ibom State Government. This follows a report of the House Committee on Public Accounts, presented by its Chairman, Hon. Charity Ido (Ukanafun) at Plenary on Tuesday. In her submission, Hon. Charity Ido, disclosed that the report was part of the requirements for the eligibility of the state government to receive performance- based grant under the State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainable (SFTAS) program. She said that her Committee painstakingly considered the report which included reaching out to and interacting with Heads of various Ministries, based on the recommendations of the Auditor General. The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, has on Tuesday passed into law, a Bill to establish the Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency and other Matters Connected Therewith. Recall that the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, had at Plenary on November 7, 2019, after deliberations on the Bill, referred it to the Committee on Environment for further legislative action. Presenting the report at Plenary on Tuesday, Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Rt. Hon. Mark Esset, noted that the passage of the Bill will ensure Akwa Ibom State and its citizens enjoy clean air, water, land, while maintaining its status as the cleanest state in Nigeria.
