SPEAKER EXTOLS LATE OTUEKONG NKANGA'S VIRTUES




Vice Chairman, Conference of Nigerian Speakers and Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aniekan Bassey accompanied the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel and wife, Dr Martha Emmanuel, Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Duoye Diri, , Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo and the state Chief Judge, Justice Godwin Abraham to pay their last respect to late Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga  whose remains were committed to earth today.


They were joined by many other dignitaries within and outside the state at the deceased home town, Ikot Nya in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.


In a condolence message to bereaved family, the Speaker described late Otuekong Nkanga as a collosus, elder statesman, reverred leader and touchbearer of Akwa Ibom State  whose legacies and contributions to humanity will forever be remembered.


He lamented that  his demise has created a big vacuum not only in his family and village but also in Nsit Ibom, Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria respectively.


Others who also sent in their condolence messages were  former President of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Babaginda who was represented by General Anthony Etukudoh,  Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Moses Ekpo, past and serving Senators as well as the PANDEF organization which he headed until his death, among others.


The late Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga was a retired Commodore of the Nigeria Airforce, first indigenous Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chairman of Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF).


He was also the Director General of the second term of Governor Godswill Akpabio Campaign Organization 2011 and two time Director General for Governor Udom Emmanuel Campaign Organizations in 2015 and 2019


Before his demise, the late elder statesman was the Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Airport Implementation Committee and Chairman of Ibom Airline.
