Head of Publication and Information Department of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly meets Forum of Legislatives' Media Aids

 

..Sues for strong working synergy

The Head of Department Information and Publication in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mrs. Juliana Udoh today played host to the Forum of Legislators Media Aides - FOLMA, 


Commending the media aides, Mrs Udoh  lauded the good works of the media body while suing for more collaborative synergy towards effective media practice and information management in the  7th Assembly. 


She made this known while interacting with the Assembly media professionals in her office, the information boss used the opportunity to thanked the aides in their performance on the image of the assembly, describing it as a feat that has surpassed previous happenings. 


For Mrs. Juliana, the emergence of the forum has elevated the status of information dissemination in the assembly as it has become a dependable partner with the existing Press Corps of the assembly working for a common goal but from a different angle. 


The HOD charged the forum not to see themselves as a separate body in competition, but rather a partner in progress of the 7th assembly and its ideals. 


Responding, the Chairman of the body and media aide to the member representing Oruk Anam State Constituency, Mr Amadie Akpabio thanked the HOD for the interface, describing it as a positive move towards a better media relationship in the Assembly. 


The Chairman of FOLMA, Mr Akpabio maintained that, "we thank you for this rare meeting. FOLMA is a body is borne out of the need to complement the information dissemination and management of the assembly. 


We came to work in synergy with the information avenues of the assembly and stabilize the flow of information. We are not not here as speculated in some quarters to usurp anybody's role but to work collectively toward the process of the lawmaking arm of government. 


Our humble appeal to you is that since we are working in collaboration in the image making body of the assembly. He appealed to the Assembly through information and publication unit to create a support base for the Forum to enable us function well and deliver on our task.


In all, let a subtle funding be given to us to motivate because we are not recognized by law, so in most cases we work behind the scene but as you can attest to, we have been very effective in the discharge of our duties".he opines.  


Also speaking, the head of information and Protocol unit, Pastor Ndiuwem Okuku affirmed  that the initiative "FOLMA" is historic as this is the first time a body that is not funded is in existence and working very well beyond reasonable doubt. 


According to Mr Okuku, "with the strides so far recorded by the present FOLMA he needs no soothsayer to tell him that the body has come to stay"


"You guys are doing well comparatively and nobody can challenge that. 


We need your  support we are not competing, but we are here to compliment each other "Nkuku affirmed. 


High point of the parley was the presentation of a copy of THE GAVEL MAGAZINE to the Information and Publication boss by the forum president on behalf of the forum. 


The HOD, Mrs. Juliana expressed gratitude for the effort of the body in putting up a solid and refined magazine covering all the members of the 7th assembly and assured them of support and speedy attention to their request.
