A'IBOM ASSEMBLY PASSES AMENDED TRADITIONAL RULERS LAW 2020 INTO LAW

Williams Akpabio - Information Unit (AKHA), Uyo. Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in its plenary today Tuesday 21st September, 2021 passes amended Traditional Rulers Law 2020 into law. this follows the report presented by Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudo - Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency on "A Bill for a Law to amend the Traditional Rulers Law 2020 and for other matters connected therewith." With the unanimous voiced vote support of members, the Bill was read the third time and passed to Law. According to the Bill, Amendment of Cap 134 LAKS 2000 is expected to correct the long title to Akwa Ibom State Council of Traditional Rulers and tenure of the Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers to pave way for second term after the first two years in office at the discreation of the Governor and on the approval of the House of Assembly. Williams Akpabio - Information Unit, AKHA, Uyo Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in its plenary today passes 142.7BN supplementary budget into law. this follows the report of the House Committee on Appropriation and  Finance as presented by the Chairman Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudo, member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency on "A Bill for a Law to make supplementary provisions for the Service of Akwa Ibom State Government for the year ending on 31st December, 2021." The supplementary estimates is expected to cater for Agriculture, Special Duties (Airport), Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Works, Transport and Fire service etc. The Bill gave a proposition of  N142,724,539,000 made up of N39,302,000,000 for Recurrent Expenditure and N103,422,539,000 for Capital Expenditure. AKHA RATIFIES STATE GOVT COVID-19 BUDGET REPORT

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has ratified the Covid 19 budget report of the State Government for last quarter ending December 2020 as presented by the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts, Hon Charity Ido, member representing Ukanafun State Constituency. The House which dissolved into a Committee of the Whole to discuss the Covid 19 Report, came out with the following recommendations: That the State Government should seek support from the Federal Government and other relevant agencies to make it a matter of priority to support Covid 19 budgets since it is a global phenomenon.  Williams Akpabio - AKHA (Aide) Uyo Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly passes 2021 Appropriation Bill. The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has today passed the 2021 Appropriation Bill worth N456.251 billion, thus indicating an increase of 4.7% from the sum of N435.652 billion that the state governor had earlier presented.  The approval of the appropriation bill is sequel to a report presented by the Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudo, member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency to the lawmakers during the plenary in Uyo. This was immediately followed by a motion for third reading and passage of the bill raised by the leader of the house Rt Hon. Williams Akpabio - AKHA(Aide), Uyo ASSEMBLY SERVICE COMMISSION DEFENDS 2021 BUDGET ESTIMATES. The Chairman, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Service Commission, Barr. Godwill Umoh accompanied by Commissioner 2, Dr. Roberta Edem, Commissioner 4, Barr Godwin Awah, Executive Secretary to the Commission, Elder Sylvanus Akpan and Head of Departments today presented the commission's Budget estimate for 2021 to the House Committee on Appropriation at Finance at the Assembly Complex. The Chairman, presented a total budgetary outlay of N565,000,000 (Five and sixty-five million naira) for 2021 fiscal year and noted that the budget which stands at 215,000,000 as approved by the State Ministry for Economic Development was grossly inadequate for the Commission to perform optimally. Williams Akpabio - AKHA(Aide), Uyo  Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in it's plenary today read A Bill for a Law to Appropriate Monies from the Consolidated Revenue Fund, Revenue Fund and Capital Development Fund in the service of Akwa Ibom State Government the second time. The Speaker Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey referred the Bill to House committee on Finance and Appropriation for further legislative actions and  report to the house in one month. It could be recalled that Gov.
