AKHA RATIFIES COVID-19 BUDGET EXECUTION OF A'IBOM STATE GOVERNMENT

The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has ratified the COVID-19 Budget Execution Report of Akwa Ibom State Government. 


This follows a report of the House Committee on Public Accounts, presented by its Chairman, Hon. Charity Ido (Ukanafun) at Plenary on Tuesday. 


In her submission, Hon. Charity Ido, disclosed that the report was part of the requirements for the eligibility of the state government to receive performance- based grant under the State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainable (SFTAS) program.


She said that her Committee painstakingly considered the report which included reaching out to and interacting with Heads of various Ministries, based on the recommendations of the Auditor General.


Satisfied with the report of the Accountant General, Hon. Ido prayed the House to ratify and pass the Covid-19 Budget Execution Report of Akwa Ibom State in the sum of Three Billion, Fifty Nine Million, Three Hundred and Twenty One Thousand Naira for the quarter ended September, 30, 2020.


She commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for his support and expressed the believe that the recommendations will ensure that the State Government meets the requirements of the verification protocols for SFTAS DLIs in subsequent periods, strengthen fiscal transparency and accountability in the state.


Subsequently, the House after considering the report at the Committee of the Whole, ratified it, while the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, directed the Clerk, Mrs. Mandu Umoren to communicate the resolution of the House to the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel.
