Akwa Ibom Assembly Update

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly is indeed pained by the sad news of the abduction, rape and subsequent murder of Miss Iniubong Umoren, 26, a graduand of Philosophy, University of Uyo and an indigene of Oruk Anam Local Government Area.  According to press release signed by the Chairman House Committee on Information, Rt. The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State  House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aniekan Bassey on Monday led members of the 7th Assembly to the State Secretariat of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Atan Offot, Uyo on a condolence visit to the leadership of the Party over the demise of the party Chairman, late Obong Udo Ekpenyong. In his speech, the Speaker described the late party Chairman as a commmitted servant leader whose loyalty to the party remains unquestionable till his death. Vice Chairman, Conference of Nigerian Speakers and Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aniekan Bassey accompanied the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel and wife, Dr Martha Emmanuel, Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Duoye Diri, , Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo and the state Chief Judge, Justice Godwin Abraham to pay their last respect to late Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga  whose remains were committed to earth today.
