A'IBOM SPEAKER CELEBRATES 2022 ARMED FORCES DAY

The National Vice Chairman Conference of Nigerian Speakers and Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan BASSEY on Saturday 15th January, 2022, joined the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel and his Deputy, Mr Moses Ekpo to mark 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration. The event which held at Cenataph, Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, featured Laying of Remembrance Wreaths in honour of our fallen heroes who died on the course of defending our father's land.  Also in attendance were members of the Executive council, state and national legislators, traditional rulers and top security officials. Delegates from the Commonwealth Countries in Africa gathered on Thursday, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, Nigeria for the 51st Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region. The theme of the Conference is African Parliaments and the Challenges of Covid-19 Pandemic. While declaring the Conference open, President Muhammadu Buhari noted that COVID-19 has pushed African countries into extreme poverty, and therefore the need for stakeholders from the region to urgently take steps to start the production of COVID-19 vaccine. A'IBOM ASSEMBLY OKAYS APPOINTMENT OF STATE CHIEF JUDGE

 Williams Akpabio - Information Unit (AKHA) Uyo The 7th Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has today cleared and confirmed Justice Ekaete Obot as the substantive  Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State. The House resolved this after due consideration of the letter forwarded to the House of Assembly by his Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel in line with Section 271(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended. Recalled that His Lordship Justice Ekaete Obot  took Oaths of Office and Allegiance, as the acting State Chief Judge by Governor Udom Emmanuel following the retirement of Justice Godwin Abraham on Wednesday, 30th June 2021. Meanwhile, the clerk of the House Mrs Mandu Umoren was directed to communicate the House Resolution to His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel.

COMMISSIONING OF IKOT OKU IKONO FLYOVER

(c) Press Unit, AKHA, Uyo The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aniekan Bassey today accompanied the Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, State Acting Chief Judge, Justice Ekaette Obot, National and State Legislators and other prominent sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom State and beyond to the official inauguration of Ikot Oku Ikono Flyover. The Commissioning was done by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR), former President of Nigeria. In his opening remarks, the Governor described the Flyover as a creative idea of which God can use the human mind to do in the face of scarcity and adversity. He restated the commitment to deliver on his Completion Agenda which is the assurance that projects instituted by his administration in all the local government areas are completed before the expiration of his tenure.    … urges public officials to support the youths   The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Aniekan Bassey, has been nominated as Speaker of the Year, South South Region, by Elite Exclusive Magazine.  Presenting the nomination certificate yesterday June 8, 2021 in Uyo, the Publisher of Elite Exclusive Magazine, Akwa Ibom-born Mbuotidem Ubom, said the Speaker was nominated after a keen contest and votes across Nigeria. MURDER OF MISS INIUBONG UMOREN: CULPRIT(S) MUST BE EXPEDITIOUSLY AND CONCLUSIVELY PROSECUTED - SPEAKER AKHA

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly is indeed pained by the sad news of the abduction, rape and subsequent murder of Miss Iniubong Umoren, 26, a graduand of Philosophy, University of Uyo and an indigene of Oruk Anam Local Government Area.  According to press release signed by the Chairman House Committee on Information, Rt. Hon. Aniefiok Dennis and member representing Etinan State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Information from the desk of the Police Public Relation Officer(PPRO) Akwa Ibom State command is that the late Iniubong Umoren was lured by one Mr Uduak Frank Akpan, 20 years, under the guise of providing her a job.
