DAY6: 2021 AKS BUDGET DEFENSE.


Rt. Hon. Mark Esset member representing Nsit Atai State Constituency  interfacing with the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission Lady Rose Bassey about unemployment in the State at the 2021 budget defence.


""I am worried at the rate of unemployment we have in Akwa Ibom State, what is the Commission doing to help pick some eligible and qualified young men and women and fix them in the State Civil Service"?


Responding, the Permanent Secretary remarked that Government is aware of the high rate of unemployment in the State, and that recruitment is a process, for will recruit when the time comes".


Mr. Okon Okon, Executive Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS) at the AKS Budget Defence 2021


As at September we have accrued the sum of N23. 5b as Internally Generated Revenue for year 2020 against the proposed N26.4B estimate earmarked for the parastatal.


We strongly believe we will meet up our target at the end of December, 2020.

The  Permanent Secretary Department of Estalishment said that the department is under funded


"We are appealing to the House of Assembly to increase the budgetary provision of the Department to N100M for execution of six programmes/projects and 21 activities earmarked for year 2021".

Mr. Monday Akpan, the State Auditor General, during the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Budget Defence said authoritatively that the report he produced and submitted to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has never been withdrawn or adjusted".


The State Auditor General decried of poor accommodation of it's officers and exposed their inconveniences and a bad working environment how six (6) Directors are parked in a single room ty discharged official duties.


Sympathizing with them, Rt. Hon. Mark Esset observed that the Office of the State Auditor General and the Auditor General for Local Government are eye sore and opined that they should be relocated to Dakkada Secretariat from the rented appartment for accounting in the 21st century has gone beyond paper work. 


Similarly, the Auditor for Local Government said that his ministry only accessed N40m out of N200m  of the 2020 bugetary provision ie about twenty percent.

The defense continues on Monday.
