A'IBOM ASSEMBLY INTERPOSES INI LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOUNDARY CRISES

The people of Ini local Government Area today breathe fresh air as Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Boundary and Conflict Resolution wades into the boundary crises rocking the Local Government Area.


The Committee led by its Chairman Hon. (Chief) Effiong Johnson member representing Mbo State Constituency were on ground at the Inl Local Government Secretariat at Odoro Ikpe for a stakeholders meeting. 


As part of the oversight function of the committee, the main aim of the meeting was for fact findings to ascertain the real courses of the crises, the possible way forward and to sort for a lasting solution to avert further reoccurrence.


The intercession of the Assembly is as a result of the matter of urgent public important presented by Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong, the Chief Whip and member representing Ini State Constituency at the floor of house calling for government attention on matter.


The Council Chairman Hon. (Elder) Isreal Idaisin alongside his Vice Hon. Marcus Solomon, Leader  of Council Hon. Ukpe Ukpe, Councillors, Supervisor, HoS, Secretary, Traditional Rulers were on ground to received the Assemblymen. 


In his welcome address, the council boss disclosed that the crises has travail the community for decades.

A'IBOM ASSEMBLY PASSES AMENDED TRADITIONAL RULERS LAW 2020 INTO LAW

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in its plenary today Tuesday 21st September, 2021 passes amended Traditional Rulers Law 2020 into law. this follows the report presented by Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudo - Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency on "A Bill for a Law to amend the Traditional Rulers Law 2020 and for other matters connected therewith." With the unanimous voiced vote support of members, the Bill was read the third time and passed to Law. According to the Bill, Amendment of Cap 134 LAKS 2000 is expected to correct the long title to Akwa Ibom State Council of Traditional Rulers and tenure of the Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers to pave way for second term after the first two years in office at the discreation of the Governor and on the approval of the House of Assembly.
