DEPLORABLE CONDITION OF IKOT AKPAN ABIA - ENEN NSIT ROAD DEEP GULLY AT MBIAKOT

Hon. Ifiok O.S. Udoh member representing Nsit Ibom State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly today presented to the house as a matter of urgent Public importance on the Deplorable Condition of Ikot Akpan Abia - Enen Nsit Road  with deep gully at Mbiakot


presenting under Order II Rule IV of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Hon. Udoh raised more concern that the road which has been in a deplorable condition has been totally truncated at Mbiakot Nsit in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area and that the yawning gully which of course has made all human and vehicular traffic impossible is created at the center of the road with over ten feet in dept.


According to the lawmaker, Ikot Akpan Abia - Enen Nsit Road is the major rout that links several communities in Nsit Ibom to Ibesikpo and Uyo Local Government Areas in the state capital. villages such as Ikot Akpan Abia, Ikot Iko, and Afaha Ikot Akpan Edu in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area and Oboyo Ikot Ita, Oboyo Akai, Mbiakot, Ikot Obok, Oboyo Etok, and Ikot Enwere all in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area rely heavily on this road for their socio - Economic engagements.


Hon. Ifiok Udoh moved that Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly should call on the State government under the able leadership of His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel to direct the Hon. Commissioner of Works to carry out urgent restorative measures on the road in order in order to alleviate the present sufferings occasioned by the collapsed of the Mbiakot Nsit portion of the Ikot Akpan Abia - Enen Nsit Road.


He further moved that remedial work should be carried out on the deplorable sections of the road especially at Oboyo Ikot Ita, Obo Atai and Afaha Ikot Akpa Edu with a view to sustain the good intentions of government towards rural transformation, economic empowerment and wealth creation.

A'IBOM ASSEMBLY PASSES AMENDED TRADITIONAL RULERS LAW 2020 INTO LAW

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in its plenary today Tuesday 21st September, 2021 passes amended Traditional Rulers Law 2020 into law. this follows the report presented by Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudo - Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency on "A Bill for a Law to amend the Traditional Rulers Law 2020 and for other matters connected therewith." With the unanimous voiced vote support of members, the Bill was read the third time and passed to Law. According to the Bill, Amendment of Cap 134 LAKS 2000 is expected to correct the long title to Akwa Ibom State Council of Traditional Rulers and tenure of the Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers to pave way for second term after the first two years in office at the discreation of the Governor and on the approval of the House of Assembly.
