ABAK ASSEMBLY LAWMAKER HON. (CDE.) UDEME OTONG PLAYED HOST TO STATE COUNCIL OF NURSES AND MIDWIVES ASSOCIATION (NANNM)

Hon. (Cde.) Udeme Otong, member representing Abak State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly today host State Council of National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) at the Assembly conference hall.
In his remark, the former State Chairmam of NANNM and lawmaker, Hon. Ottong on behalf of the Hon. Speaker Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey welcome the State Executive Council of his union to the assembly. He reiterated his readiness to partner with the union to provide a good health delivery system to the people of the state and to push the union forward.
The Abak Member urges the labour leaders to serve humanity and protect lives. He also disclosed that the State government in a bid to boost the health sector has renovated many hospital within the state with latest health facilities and employed over 500 Nurses and 300 Doctors.
The lawmaker who is also the Chairman House Committee on Health assured the union that the 7th Assembly has already proposed a motion to evade quakery in the health sector and that a Bill has been passed by the house to Upgrade the state the status of the State School of Nursing to degree awarding institution awaiting accent by his Excellency Gov. Udom Emmanuel.
The leader of the delegation and State Chairman of the association Comrade Edem David in his address, thanks the Hon. Speaker of the 7th Assembly Rt.Hon. Aniekan Bassey, a one time State chairmam of Nurses and Midwives Association and member representing Abak State Constituency Hon. (Cde.) Udeme Otong for the notable contribution towards the growth and development of the nursing profession in the state and beyond. He commended projects, programs of human empowerment, achievements and indeed remarkable effort of Hon (Cde.) Ottong in building a United Nursing profession in the state as laudable.
In addition, he said that, it is worth mentioning that his reign as the state champion of NANNM witnessed a sweeping transformation which left an epitaph of all to include completion of Nurses House, initiation of Nurses cooperative, initiation of Nurses Estate, Reactivation of Nurses entrepreneurial spirit and many others.
The Nurses uses the opportunity to appeal to the State Assembly to enact laws that will elude quackery in the health profession, seek for accreditation of School of Psychiatric Nursing as well as migration of State School of Nursing into college of Nursing for degree programs to meet up with the proposed 2023 qualification dateline by Nigeria Medical Council of Nigeria.
Conclusively, the state leadership and indeed entire Nurses of Akwa Ibom State according to the union helmsman undauntedly described his emergence as member representing the people of Abak State Constituency at Chairmam, House Committee on on health in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly as trust bestowed on merit and capacity
