A'Ibom Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey Nominated as Speaker of the Year (South South) by Elite Exclusive Magazine

   …urges public officials to support the youths  


The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Aniekan Bassey, has been nominated as Speaker of the Year, South South Region, by Elite Exclusive Magazine. 

Presenting the nomination certificate yesterday June 8, 2021 in Uyo, the Publisher of Elite Exclusive Magazine, Akwa Ibom-born Mbuotidem Ubom, said the Speaker was nominated after a keen contest and votes across Nigeria. He noted that the Speaker was chosen because of his support for youths and small businesses through the RHAB-YESS Programme. 


Reacting to the nomination, Aniekan Bassey, who doubles as the Chairman South-South Speaker’s Forum and National Vice Chairman Conference of Nigerian Speakers, thanked Elite Magazine for the nomination stating that it has been his life ambition to lend a helping hand to those struggling to make it in life. 


He revealed that he started business at the age of 19 and presently offers lifeline to more than 100 Nigerians. He urged public office holders to see their elevation as a call to the service of the people and promote their well-being. 


“Aside lending support to the completion agenda of Udom Emmanuel-led administration, one of my greatest joy as Speaker is the commencement of the RHAB-YESS Programme and the impact it is creating in the lives of our youths. The programme support youths and SMEs every month with N500,000. It may look small but it is impactful. If elected officials of government can adopt what we are doing with RHAB-YESS in Akwa Ibom State, the rate of unemployment and insecurity in Nigeria will be greatly curtailed. Our youths will have a reason to live because we provided them with a shoulder to lean on to get a life and future.”, he said.


RHAB-YESS is a youth empowerment programme, set up by the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, as his own way of giving back to society. The programme that has touched and lifted many lives and businesses. 


The Elite Exclusive Magazine Awards and Dinner Night comes up in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, on Tuesday June 22, 2021 at the Prestigious Golden Hall of Chelsea Hotel, Abuja. It is a culmination of activities to mark the 4th Anniversary of the Magazine.

A'IBOM ASSEMBLY PASSES AMENDED TRADITIONAL RULERS LAW 2020 INTO LAW

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in its plenary today Tuesday 21st September, 2021 passes amended Traditional Rulers Law 2020 into law. this follows the report presented by Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudo - Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency on "A Bill for a Law to amend the Traditional Rulers Law 2020 and for other matters connected therewith." With the unanimous voiced vote support of members, the Bill was read the third time and passed to Law. According to the Bill, Amendment of Cap 134 LAKS 2000 is expected to correct the long title to Akwa Ibom State Council of Traditional Rulers and tenure of the Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers to pave way for second term after the first two years in office at the discreation of the Governor and on the approval of the House of Assembly.
