A'IBOM ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON WORKS TODAY VISITS OBOT AKARA, IKOT EKPENE, UKANAFUN ON OVERSIGHT FUNCTION

In tandem with the provision of the Constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria and the standing order of the House of Assembly,
The Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Works and Transport and member representing Eket State Constituency Rt. Hon. David Lawrence today led members of his committee for on-the-spot accessment to inspect the level of work done at Obot Akara, Ikot Ekpene and Ukanafun Local Govt Areas.
The Committee firstly visited Nto Edino - Ekwerazu Road in Obot Akara Local Govt. Area handled by SEYANG LTD.
At the project site, the committee was received by the CEO of the company Engr. Sam Inyang and the Project Engineer, Engr. Gabriel Obot who took the committee round the project site. Engr. Inyang assured that the 6.41km road which his Excellency Gov. Udom Emmanuel transform to the high way is the best inter-state road of that side of the state for now which will not collapse in the next 100 Year to come. He added that the bad spots noticed during the the last Inspection has been fixed to Standard.
Earlier in his address, the committee chairman said thatit's the duty of the House of the Assembly to see if the money HE released has been Judiciously used to meet the standard and specification of the contract.
Rt.Hon. Mark Eset, member representing Nsit Atai State Constituency and Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong member representing Ini State Constituency in differently remarked that Sayang Company for doing a nice job and urges the company to keep up with the standard.
The Committee later visited Nto Ide, Ikot Amba Bridge in Obot Akara L.G.A constructed by SEYANG NIG. LTD.
The company CEO Engr. Ingang conducted the Committee members round Ikot Ide/ Ikot Amba Bridge, to ascertain the level of work done so far. He assured the lawmakers of timely completion of the project. Furthermore, he commended His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, for the confidence reposed in indigenous contractors, promising not to let down the trust.
The Committee later visited road 6.3km road construction site at Amanyam Community/ Comprehensive Health Center, Idung Ikot Akan, Ikot Ekpene L.G.A handled by Mirai Denchi Nig. Ltd.
The Committee was received by the Project Manager of MIRAI DENCHI Nigeria Limited, Engr Henry Mbamara. having seen the level of unprofessionalism displayed by the company. They Committee foresaw the company's inability to deliver good and timely output due to lack of requisite work tools and manpower. They urged him to live up to expectation, without which their company would face the wrath of the State Assembly
Lastly, at Ikot Akpan Afaha-Ikot Oku Usung Road in Ukanafun L.G.A., Road Construction site handled by AYF Development Nigeria Ltd.
The project Director Engr. Ekpenyong Udo Ekpenyong, the Project Engineer Engr. Ambrose Uwoheren and other Company workers were on ground to receive the committee, Engr. Ekpenyong took the Committee round the project site, and showed them the level of work done. He pledged to conclude the first phase of the project by second week of March 2021. He added that the only challenge for the completion of the project is lack of funds, as manpower and tools and other sundry requirements were on ground. He thus appealed to the Committee to report the situation to the appropriate authorities.
Responding, the Committee members lauded his professionalism and the quality of work done; they stated that they had not seen that quality of work, nor tools of such sophistication, at any other site since they commenced inspection this year. They stated that EYF Development has made the Committee proud, pointing out that indigenous companies like that should be rewarded with more contracts and urges all other companies to emulate AYF, as companies who default their contractual agreement would be blacklisted
Other members present at the oversight function were: Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Bassey the Chief Whip and member representing Ini State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mark Esset - Nsit Atai, Hon. Effiong Johnson- Mbo, Hon. Victor Ekwere - Mkpat Enin, and Hon. Ifiok Udoh - Nsit Ibom and the Committee Clerk Uduak Ebong Okon.
