WELCOME TO 2021: YEAR OF UNPRECEDENTED FAVOUR

Fellow Akwa Ibomites,

On behalf of my wife, Itohowo, the leadership and members of 7th Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, I welcome you to 2021, the year of unprecedented favour.

Your resilience, never-say-never and can do spirit was at work while you traversed 2020; one of the most turbulent years in our history. 

As you journey through 2021, I pray God Almighty to bless your hustles, crown your efforts with good success and cause His light to shine on your path to Eldorado.

As your representatives, rest assured that we will pursue only those laws and programmes that will guarantee greater good for a greater number of people. 

I urge you to remain steadfast, loyal and committed to the success of the completion Agenda of the Udom Emmanuel-led administration

Stay blessed, remain positive and adhere strictly to COVID-19 protocols.

A'IBOM ASSEMBLY PASSES AMENDED TRADITIONAL RULERS LAW 2020 INTO LAW

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in its plenary today Tuesday 21st September, 2021 passes amended Traditional Rulers Law 2020 into law. this follows the report presented by Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudo - Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency on "A Bill for a Law to amend the Traditional Rulers Law 2020 and for other matters connected therewith." With the unanimous voiced vote support of members, the Bill was read the third time and passed to Law. According to the Bill, Amendment of Cap 134 LAKS 2000 is expected to correct the long title to Akwa Ibom State Council of Traditional Rulers and tenure of the Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers to pave way for second term after the first two years in office at the discreation of the Governor and on the approval of the House of Assembly.
