SPEAKER, AKWA IBOM STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY CELEBRATES YULETIDES WITH ASSEMBLY STAFF

Today, at the former Chapel of the Assembly; the Honourable Speaker Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey in his usual end of the year get-together, meet with all workers of Assembly to celebrate the Christmas festival.

Speaker Bassey in his address appreciated the show of love, solidarity, support and the good working relationship with, Clerk of the House Mrs. Mandu Umoren, the management and the entire staff of the Assembly. 

The Assembly helmsman remarked the existing peace enjoyed in the Assembly by the apex union of the legislative arm of government (PASAN) and sues for a more working relationship for the remaining two years.

feels it's expedient to meet with the staff to assure all staff that as the Speaker of the 7th Assembly, he stand and believe in the welfare of staff and noted that from September, 2020, we entered the worst recession we've had in the past 35years, so things cannot be the same, the allocation of the State is driving down.  

However, the Assembly Boss added that being the leaders of the Assembly, he would not want the staff to feel the pressure from the bad economy. "People expect that you are working in the house of Assembly, you should come back with good things this Christmas, and people will not understand..."

The Speaker further disclosed that his leadership consider staff welfare, health and everything that will make to work optimally."Without you people, oiling the machinery of government within the Assembly; it would be very difficult for us to function" he thereby donated the sum of N4million Naira and 500 bags of 10kg Rice to all workers of the Assembly to celebrate the Yuletide.

Similarly, the Speaker and the Clerk of the House also expressed gratitude to the medical Superintendent of the Assembly Clinic Dr. Donald Ekong for reforming medical services in the clinic to a resounding standard. 

The speaker hinted his staff that there might be a another lockdown very soon due to the re-visitation of Corona virus, admonished staff to be very cautious for money cannot buy life, make good use of face mask, follow covid-19 protocol always  and directed that Covid-19 protocol should be strictly adhered to in the Assembly premises.

In a vote of thanks, the Clerk of the House Mrs Mandu Umoren, thank the speaker for his benevolence to staff and describes him as the working and pragmatic Speaker for his gestures and for keeping to his promises.

She further prayed God to bless him, bless his leadership and give him good health to end his tenure well.

It could be recalled that the Hon. Speaker during the end of the year 2020 Thanksgiving services at the House of Assembly Chapel of peace assuered workers that this year Christmas package will be the best ever in the history of the Assembly.
