Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in compliance to section 192 (2) of the Constitution of the Federal republic of Nigerian throws her weight behind the appointment of Uko Essien Udom, SAN; Mrs. Idongesit Iboro Etiebiet, Mr. John James Etim and Pastor Umo Eno as  as members of the State Executive Council.

Uko Essien Udom (SAN), is a distinguished legal practitioner, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a defender of marginalized people, he hails from Etinan Local Government Area.

Mrs. Idongesit Iboro Etiebiet, presently SA to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Education Monitoring. Hails from Oruk Anam Local Government Area, she a professional banker and educationist, 


Mr. John James Etim of Aka Offot in Uyo Local Government Area, a teacher holds master degree in Criminal Justice and Doctorate degree in literature (Administration). He held several offices of trust in Philadelphia, USA and Canada including Budget Director.



4. Pastor Umo Eno, an indigene of Nsit Ubium, a political gladiator  who has supported the economic growth of the state through employment of over 2000 indigenes in his firm. He is the Executive Director of Royalty Hotels and Akwa Ibom State Agricultural Investments.

Their clearance and confirmation follows the successful screening and adoption of the report of the Chairman, House Committee on Judiciary, Justice, Human Right and Public Petition, Hon. (Barr.) Victor Ekwere, member representing Mkpat Enin State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly at today's plenary.

It could be recalled that Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly on Tuesday 22nd December, 2020 plenary received list of Commissioners and Special Advisers from  His Excellency Gov. Udom Emmanuel via letter no. GHU/AKS/S/104/VOL.9/579 of 18th December, 2020 in line with section 192 (2) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended seeking for clearance and confirmation for appointment as commissioners and Special Advisers to Akwa Ibom State Government.

And to give the Governor's message accelerating legislation, the Honourable Speaker Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey gave the committee two days (which is today) to submit her report for further legislative actions.

A'IBOM ASSEMBLY PASSES AMENDED TRADITIONAL RULERS LAW 2020 INTO LAW

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in its plenary today Tuesday 21st September, 2021 passes amended Traditional Rulers Law 2020 into law. this follows the report presented by Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudo - Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency on "A Bill for a Law to amend the Traditional Rulers Law 2020 and for other matters connected therewith." With the unanimous voiced vote support of members, the Bill was read the third time and passed to Law. According to the Bill, Amendment of Cap 134 LAKS 2000 is expected to correct the long title to Akwa Ibom State Council of Traditional Rulers and tenure of the Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers to pave way for second term after the first two years in office at the discreation of the Governor and on the approval of the House of Assembly.
