7TH AKWA IBOM STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY AMMENDS STANDING ORDER

The 7th Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in her sitting of Thursday 24th December, 2020 adopt the amended standing order of the house.
This follows the adoption of the report of House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics and Privileges on the amendment of the standing orders of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly (6th Edition) as presented by her Chairman Hon. (Barr.) Otobong Effiong Bob, member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency.
After the adoption of the report by more than 2/3 member of the 7th Assembly, the Hon. Speaker Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey directed House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics and Privileges to produce printed copies of a new edition of the standing orders of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly as amended.
The amendment of the 6th edition of the standing order was necessary because, pursuant to the directives of the house, resolved to amends on some sections of the standing order or introduced to meet with the mission and vision of the 7th Assembly.
According to the committee report, the amendment of the standing order of the house will streamline the procedures of the house, rationalize the priority of business of the house, and incorporate current legislative practices into the standing order and eliminate some obsolete sections where necessary.
