AKWA IBOM STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY PRESENTS BUDGET FOR 2021 FISCAL YEAR


Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly is among the Ministry, Department and Agencies that appears before the House Committee on Appropriation and Finance today for presentation of the Assembly's 2021 Budget Estimate at the Assembly Complex.

The team of management and Directors of the House was led by the Clerk of the House of Assembly, Mrs Mandu Umoren and the Deputy Clerk of the House Anietie Eka Esq. 


In her presentation, the Clerk noted that the Assembly is not satisfied with the budget proposal for next year and pleaded with the Committee to consider key areas that will enhance effective service delivery of the the House and the well-being of Assembly Staff. 


The items  for Augmentation includes Rooffing of the Assembly Complex, Renovation of Assembly complex, Construction of Assembly Press Centre, Consultancy services among others.

Also present for today's budget defense were Akwa Ibom State Judiciary, Office of the Deputy Governor, Office of the Surveyor-General, Head of Civil Service, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, State Technical Education Board, State Secondary Education Board, APIICO etc.

Meanwhile, the Chairman House Committee on Appropriation and Finance has declared the budget defense of Office of the SSG and APIICO inconclusive and they are to reappear before the committee on Thursday.

Similarly, MDA's who were unable to make their presentations as earlier scheduled are advised to avail themselves on Thursday as the committee is ready to revoke some relevant sections of the constitution and standing order of the house to the defaulting MDA's.

A'IBOM ASSEMBLY PASSES AMENDED TRADITIONAL RULERS LAW 2020 INTO LAW

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in its plenary today Tuesday 21st September, 2021 passes amended Traditional Rulers Law 2020 into law. this follows the report presented by Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudo - Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency on "A Bill for a Law to amend the Traditional Rulers Law 2020 and for other matters connected therewith." With the unanimous voiced vote support of members, the Bill was read the third time and passed to Law. According to the Bill, Amendment of Cap 134 LAKS 2000 is expected to correct the long title to Akwa Ibom State Council of Traditional Rulers and tenure of the Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers to pave way for second term after the first two years in office at the discreation of the Governor and on the approval of the House of Assembly.
