A Bill for a Law to Establish Akwa Ibom State Road Traffic Authority

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in it's plenary yesterday read the second time a Bill tittled "A Bill for a Law to Establish Akwa Ibom State Road Traffic Authority and for other matters connected therewith" sponsored by Hon. (Dr.) Charity Friday Ido member representating Ukanafun State Constituency.

The Speaker Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey referred the Bill to House Committee on Works and Transport for further Legislative actions and to report back in one month.

Similarly, Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudo, member representating Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo state Constituency in the floor of the house presented a motion on Notice on the Development of Tourist Sites in Ikot Abasi into Tourist Centres. This motion was referred to House Committee on Industry, Commerce and Tourism to consider alongside with a Bill for a Law to provide for the Protection and Preparation of Essential Properties and Cultural Heritage Site in Akwa Ibom State.

Meanwhile the House has adjourned plenary to reconvene on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.

A'IBOM ASSEMBLY PASSES AMENDED TRADITIONAL RULERS LAW 2020 INTO LAW

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in its plenary today Tuesday 21st September, 2021 passes amended Traditional Rulers Law 2020 into law. this follows the report presented by Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudo - Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency on "A Bill for a Law to amend the Traditional Rulers Law 2020 and for other matters connected therewith." With the unanimous voiced vote support of members, the Bill was read the third time and passed to Law. According to the Bill, Amendment of Cap 134 LAKS 2000 is expected to correct the long title to Akwa Ibom State Council of Traditional Rulers and tenure of the Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers to pave way for second term after the first two years in office at the discreation of the Governor and on the approval of the House of Assembly.
