Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Special Duties on oversight function visits 21 Storey Intelligent Building (Dakkada Tower's), International Worship Center and Obong Atah International Airport.

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Special Duties under the Chairmanship of Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko, a one time Speaker of the 6th Assembly and member representating Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency Wednesday went on their oversight function visits 21 Story Intelligent Building now known as Dakkada Tower's, and the International Terminal Building at Obong Atah International Airport. Both projects is supervised by Ministry of Special Duties under the commissionership of Rt. Hon. Okplupum Ette.

At the Dakkada Tower's complex, build by VKS Company, the Commissioner flanked by his Permanent Secretary Engr. Richard Ekpe who received the committee, described the intelligent building as tallest building in the south of the Niger. 

The former lawmaker cum Commissioner assured the committee that the edifice is ready for commencement and business. During inspection, the committee was convinced that the building has taste and quality because of already fixed facilities including Office Suits,Twin Suits, Panoramic/Penthouse Suit, Hall/Office for Bank, Insurance Companys, Even Snacks Bar Outlet, Restaurant, Safe Room, Kitchenette, Power Transmitting Station, Generators, Housed Transformers, Water Treatment Plant, Lifts, Fire Extinguisher Taps, Parking Bay, etc.






While answering questions from members, the Commissioner said that the building has almost 50% tender tenants and will be ready for commissioning soon. He further said that what is left is completion of the helicart base which is the critical component part of the business and the response is the work of the company meanwhile all the fixings will be finished in three months while one month will be for test running the electrical, mechanical fixings before commissioning.

Moreso, the commissioner assured the committee that, maintenance work will be done by our indigene that will be sent on training soon.



Responding, the Committee helmsman Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko, congratulates His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel through the Commissioner for state of art edifice. In his word,"Gov. Udom has done much for us, he does not believe in report but results". The law magnet added that last time the committee visited the site, the Commissioner gave them his word and today the committee has seen it. He thank VKS company for beating imaginations and partnership.







At the  International Terminal Building at Obong Atah International Airport. This committee inspected international travellers and domestic passengers building, a 23sq metres area, 183m length, 117m wide, 14.5 height. Facilities expected on completion is 4 Escalators, 7 lifts, with 3 level structures; first or ground floor for meeters/greeters, second for arrival and the third for departure, the project started October 2019, targeted to be completed next year with a projection of 100million passengers in the next ten years.

The spoke person of the committee Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko wondered the magic perform by the administration of His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel. He thank the governor for his vision for giving a figure that depicts a man that the airport was named for; with the vision the lawmaker assured that soon Akwa Ibom will become a reference point and tourist center.

The committee commend the supervisory commissioner for good work done and that legislature being the life line for the completion agenda of the governor, ensure the completion on time. Conclusively, The law maker passed vote confidence on commissioner Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Ette being a former and the longest serving lawmaker, whom they have known his capacity and content,  for he'll deliver.





The committee also make a tour to International Worship Center constructed by Julius Berger and supervised by Ministry of Lands and Water Resources to see for themselves the level of work done at the site. 

The Commissioner Arch Ime Ekpo accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Barr. C.J. Udoh who were on ground to receive the committee said that the worship Center when completed will accomodate 5500 peoples including 700 seater gallery at a cool and comfortable environment, with utility buildings down the tower.

Disclosing further, the project manager of the company who took the committee round the site make known that the project is about 35% completed. He further said that the building has three levels of floor and suspended floor system and that the building is 50 metres high, 70 cubic size and 28.9 metres roofing system.



Responding, the committee Chairman Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko  comparing the effort of the company with the last time the committee visited described their effort as tremendous and believed that with the speed Gov. Udom Emmanuel will complete the worship center before the end of his tenure. 

The lawmaker described Udom Emmanuel as a spiritual man who shows Akwa Ibom people the direction because Akwa Ibom people are predominantly Christian. He wish the building be named Udom's Ark as compared to Noah's Ark of old and described the edifice as a ship coming from the sea and that the House of Assembly will worship in the building to thank God for the eight years of Governor Udom Emmanuel successfull administration.

Emmanuel Ekpenyong Chief Whip and member representating Ini State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Nse Essien Deputy Chief Whip and member representating Onna State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Effiong Bassey member, Rt. Hon. Mark Esset member representating Nsit Atai, Rt. Hon. Uduak Odudo member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo, Hon. Godwin Ekpo member representating Ibiono State Constituency, , Hon. Ifiok Udo member representing Nsit Ibom, Hon.(Barr.) Otobong Bob member representing Nsit Ubium, Hon. Kufre Edidem member representing Itu, Hon. Esse Umoh member representing Essien Udim, Hon. Asuquo Nana Udo member representing Ikono, Hon. Effiong Etim Johnson (Mbo), and the Committee Clerk Mrs. Unwana Idungafa.
