MURDER OF MISS INIUBONG UMOREN: CULPRIT(S) MUST BE EXPEDITIOUSLY AND CONCLUSIVELY PROSECUTED - SPEAKER AKHA

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly is indeed pained by the sad news of the abduction, rape and subsequent murder of Miss Iniubong Umoren, 26, a graduand of Philosophy, University of Uyo and an indigene of Oruk Anam Local Government Area.  According to press release signed by the Chairman House Committee on Information, Rt. Hon. Aniefiok Dennis and member representing Etinan State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Information from the desk of the Police Public Relation Officer(PPRO) Akwa Ibom State command is that the late Iniubong Umoren was lured by one Mr Uduak Frank Akpan, 20 years, under the guise of providing her a job. AKHA SPEAKER ADVOCATES INCLUSION OF MORE WOMEN IN GOVERNANCE

The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has called for the inclusion of more women in governance.  Speaking at the Conference of Female Mobilizers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Uyo on Tuesday, the Speaker described women as key players in the development process of the family, state and nation.  "It is possible to have three female Senators from the three Senatorial Districts. It is also possible to have eighteen female Commissioners and eleven councillors in our respective wards. It can happen. But that means you (women) need to re-strategize and prepare yourselves for the big task ahead.
