 Williams Akpabio - Information Unit AKHA, Uyo Ad-hoc Committee to investigate Akwa Ibom State Government 2019 Audit/Accounts Report yesterday conducted Public Hearing to avail the entirety of Akwa Ibom State the opportunity to witness and contribute on the alleged discrepancies of the  of the Akwa Ibom State Government account. It could be recall that the 2019 financial report from the Office of the Accountant General generated some controversies in the State due to discrepancies in the figures, and Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in it's plenary of Tuesday 8th December, 2020 constituted A-4 Man Ad-hoc Committee to investigate the  State Government 2019 Audit Accounts report. Williams Akpabio - Infomation Unit, AKHA, Uyo The National Vice Chairman Conference of Nigerian Speaker's and Speaker of the 7th Assembly Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Rt. Hon Aniekan Bassey, yesterday joined Akwa Ibom State Governor  Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Deputy Governor Mr. Moses Ekpo and other dignitaries and service Chiefs to mark 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration. The Event which held at Cenataph Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo featured Laying of remembrance wreaths in honour of our fallen great heroes who died on the course of defending our father's land.

  Williams Akpabio-AKHA, Uyo Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly on Tuesday's plenary through a motion moved by Hon. (Barr.) Otobong Bob, member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency resolved to call for a thorough and Swift Investigation into the gruesome murder of Gabriel Bassey Edward;  Mandate and call on the Attorney General of Akwa Ibom State to ensure that this horrific murder case is properly handled and the culprit deligently prosecuted. Condole with the family of the deceased, the students community of University of Uyo, the Catholic Youth Organization and other friends and associates of the deceased. Moreso the Hon.Speaker mandated the house committee on Security, Youth and Sports to follow up the case and report back to the house on a monthly basis.   Williams Akpabio -AKHA, Uyo  A Bill for a law to Establish Office of the Public Defender, Akwa Ibom State, has yesterday passes Second reading and forwarded to House Committee on Justice, Human Right and Public Petitions for in-depth study and report back to the House in one month. It could be recalled that this Bill sponsored by Hon. (Barr.) Otobong Bob, member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency and 15 others scaled through first reading at the floor of the House Tuesday 12th January, 2021. According to the sponsors during debate at the plenary, the Bill if passed to law shall be for indigent residents of Akwa Ibom State particularly, women, widows, children, student, unemployed persons, physically challenged persons, retirees above the age of sixty years, and anyone earning below the current minimum wage approved by government, irrespective of tribe, race, religion, or ethical affiliation.
